    Ollie Cowan

ORGANISERS of the Southport Festival are giving people the chane to let out their children’s inner artist with a giant paint catapult.

Pif Paf Action Painting are taking aim and hoping to fire up some creativity with festival goers!  The festivals theme for 2017 is ‘art on the move’ and this giant spectacle outside The Atkinson Saturday May 6 from 11am.

A spokesperson for the festival said: “Passers by can have a go at firing all manner of paint from pneumatic cannons onto the giant revolving canvas, making their mark on one huge piece of art!

“Southport Festival – now in it’s second year – brings together art, music, literature and more with a packed programme of activities in venues throughout the town centre over three days.

“Directed by Southport Contemporary Arts, The Atkinson and other partners, the festival is supported by funding and resources from Southport BID and Sefton Council.

“With doxens of art demonstrations and interactive sessions around town, families will also be able to let loose on Nevill Street with the Big Street Draw Saturday afternoon and from 11am Sunday.

“Local contemporary artists will be on hand asking budding artists to help creat their giant street frieze.  Stomp on paint in wellies, use your body as a template or make art with mechanical toys – just get stuck in!

“Join in making jellyfish at workshops throughout the weekend ready for the performance of the giant Mummy jellyfish and her mesmerising shoal on Sunday at 4pm in Town Hall Gardens!”
