  • Group performing My Fair Lady in 65th year

    Henry James

THE local amateur theatre society, Southport Spotlights, in 2018 will be celebrating 65 years since their first production Lilac Domino.

More than 90 of their shows have entertained Southport audiences in the past years.

Recently Spotlights have performed shows not associated with the usual fare of amdram groups: Little Shop of Horrors, Drowsy Chaperone, Sweeney Todd, Sister Act, The Producers and Spamalot are examples.

Spotlights have decided to mark their sapphire year by performing the well loved My Fair Lady.

These more 'traditional' musicals are currently enjoying a revival in the West End and proving very popular with the new generation.

The show will be performed at The Little Theatre on Hoghton Street, Southport from February 7 to 10 2018. Songs from the show are really well known - Wouldn't It Be Loverly? With a Little Bit Of Luck, The Rain in Spain, I Could Have Danced All Night, On the Street Where You Live, Get Me to the Church on Time, I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face and more.

The society is now preparing to cast My Fair Lady. An introductory talk-up meeting is planned for Monday September 4 at Greenbank School, Hastings Road, Birkdale at 7.30pm.

They are looking for people who can sing, dance or both and are interested in being part of this show.
