  • Frank Bruno to talk at special Christmas-themed event for children's charity

    Danielle Thompson

TICKETS are still available to see boxing legend Frank Bruno talk about his glittering career at a special charity fund-raiser in December.

Boxer Sean Crowley and the team at Jab Boxing Gym on New Court Way in Ormskirk organised the Christmas Lunch fund-raiser, which will include a raffle and auction at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Southport from 2pm on Sunday, December 17 to raise funds for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Frank Bruno, MBE, 55, is a British former professional heavyweight boxer who competed from 1982 to 1996. The height of his boxing career was winning the WBCheavyweight title, in his fourth world championship challenge. He also held the European heavyweight title earlier in his career – and faced multiple top-rated heavyweights including two bouts with Mike Tyson and a domestic clash against Lennox Lewis. He has remained a popular celebrity following his retirement from boxing.

The club is planning to become a long-term fund-raiser for the Foundation, which grants magical wishes for children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions, including starring in their own films, walking with dinosaurs, going on an amazing holiday or meeting a celebrity hero.

Sean Crowley said: “Do you fancy an afternoon in the company of former Heavyweight Champion of the World Frank Bruno? This is the perfect Christmas party with a difference or the ultimate Christmas Present for any boxing fan! Spend the afternoon in the company of one of the nations favourite boxers and hear Frank's fascinating tales of his life and amazing boxing career, fighting some of the meanest, toughest men on the planet, including Mike Tyson twice and Lennox Lewis!”

The standard tickets, which cost £64.99, include a three-course Christmas lunch, after-dinner talk, question and answer session, memorabilia auction, charity raffle and a photograph/autograph opportunity. The VIP tickets, which cost £89.99, include the same as the standard ones, plus a personal meet and greet with Frank Bruno, private VIP area, professional photograph with Frank Bruno and front row tables. They can be bought at businessboxin.com
