Primary school team win Maghull and District Girls Football tournament
A TEAM from St John Bosco primary have won the Maghull and District Girls Football tournament at Active Soccer Centre in Maghull.
In all they played six games, scored 17 goals and did not concede any throughout the evening.
In the final they played St Gregory's and were 1-0 winners.
Danny MacAreavy, headteacher at St John Bosco Catholic Primary School, said: “A total of 10 teams took part and the standard of football was extremely high. Many of the girls knew each other from weekend football teams that they play in together, so the atmosphere from the girls was really good.
“Thanks to Mark and Matty at Active Soccer for organising the event at their facilities at no charge to the primary schools.
“Our girls played some great football and their team spirit and encouragement for each other clearly helped them win the tournament outright. Both finalists were fantastic.”
St John Bosco Girls go on to represent Maghull and District this Friday in the Danone Merseyside Regional Finals.
Danny added: “We wish them all the best as they try to progress even further. A massive thanks to Mr Merivale, a St John Bosco teacher, who took charge of the team. He is considering applying to Everton his lifelong football team to see if they need his expertise.”
