Erica’s fired up for London Marathon challenge
FORMER Champion reporter Erica Dillon is set to take part in this year’s London Marathon to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.
This will be the 39-year-old’s 10th marathon and she is hoping to raise £2,000 for the cause when she lines up in the 40,000-strong field for the famous event on Sunday, April 22.
As part of her fundraising efforts, Erica, who worked for the Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service on the World Firefighters Games in 2008, has organised a multi-terrain trail run through the Formby Pinewoods on Sunday, February 18.
The Woodland Womble will start and finish at MeCycle next to Ainsdale railway station with runners assembling at 10am for a 10.30am start.
Three routes have been planned to cover five, seven or nine miles so participants can choose their preferred distance. Suggested donation is £5.
Erica said: “This is going to be a very special year for me. London will be my 10th marathon and just weeks after I turn 40 and a decade since I worked on the World Firefighters Games - so it’s the perfect time to give something back.
“Firefighters put their lives on the line every single day, so it will be a real honour and privilege to represent The Fire Fighters Charity at the London Marathon.”
