The country's most renowned mobile phone mast campaigner is organising a unique conference to debate the pros and cons of masts.
Elieen O'Connor, who recently moved to Formby, hopes to bring together delegates from across the globe to a two-day event - the first of its kind - in London in the summer.
Up to 95 invited guests will include top ministers, independent scientists and representatives from the mobile phone industry.
"For too long now the issue has been swept under the carpet," Eileen, 44, told The Champion.
"One side says one thing and the other says something different. The only way forward is for everyone to come together and this is what we are trying to achieve."
Eileen has been campaigning against mobile phone masts since she and several neighbours were diagnosed with breast cancer after a 22m mast was put up by her Birmingham home six years ago.
She overcame her fear of public speaking to join in debates in Westminster and the European Parliament.
"The conference is a big challenge but I am determined it will happen," Eileen said.
"We will see if both sides can join forces to sort out one of the biggest threatening problems we are facing in the world today. Both sides need to listen to each other. We are speaking about brining people in from the highest level in the world.
"I really hope it will be a breakthrough."
Eileen came up with the idea in December and said that although negotiations are in their early stages, they are "looking good".
She is taking on the majority of the work herself, but is being helped by the Radiation Research Trust.
