MERSEYSIDE Police say their crackdown on drink and drug driving has been extended until the end of August.
The Police tested over 2,000 drivers during its Drink and Drug Driving Campaign in June.
The police found that 10% of those people tested were over the legal limit.
Inspector Chris Markey, of Merseyside Police said: “We are using information from members of the public to actively target those we believe to be driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.
“We have seen a huge reduction in the number of collisions recorded, they have gone down by 66% which is great news.”
This meant high visibility patrols across the area carried out intelligence-led drink driving enforcement and roadside checks to identify those driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.
Merseyside Police are asking anyone who has seen a person getting behind the wheel under the influence of drink or drugs to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. |
