Police issue warning after pensioner is victim of a theft by a cold caller
SKELMERSDALE Police have issued a warning after a pensioner was victim to a theft by a cold caller to his home.
The male offender, who acted alone, offered his gardening services, but was politely declined.
He was then allowed into the property and has taken a wallet containing some money.
This man also provided a gardening business leaflet, which police believe is a genuine business that he does not work for.
A spokesman for Skelmersdale Police said on their social media page: “We would advise everyone to remain vigilant with doorstep sellers and ensure you are fully confident that the person you are dealing with is a genuine professional before letting them into your house.
“It would also be useful to remind any elderly or vulnerable family, friends or neighbours, not to let any doorstep sellers or strangers into their house. If you suspect anyone of committing such crimes, you can report it by ringing 101.”
