Tributes paid to father-of-four who died in road traffic collision before Christmas
TRIBUTES have been paid to a father-of-four from Skelmersdale who died following a road traffic collision in North Wales just days before Christmas.
Danny Deegan, 26, was driving a Ford Focus when it was involved with a crash with a Vauxhall Vivaro van on the A547 Abergele Road between Old Colwyn and Llanddulas shortly after 6pm on Wednesday, December 20.
Mr Deegan was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Martin Clifford Kelly, 41, who was local to the Llysfaen area, was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance, but he later died.
The driver of the Vauxhall van was left with minor injuries.
Danny had been visiting family for a little break and died the day he was due to come home for christmas.
He leaves behind four children who are six, seven, nine and 10. His family paid the following tribute to him: “He had a heart of gold, was a petrol head and fixer. He was a really funny family man who leaves behind four small children. Danny was a lovable rogue, known as Del Boy (from Only Fools and Horses). He was very popular locally and liked by all who knew him. He also always made an instant good impact, and was a ray of sunshine who had a precious bond with his Mum.”
His sister Katie Deegan has set up a JustGiving page to raise money for Danny’s children. She had hoped to raise £400, but the page has collected £2,511.
Katie wrote on the page: “Danny was a very important person to me and it has broken the hearts of everyone who knew him and especially the hearts of our family.
“I thought it would be a nice idea to give his children something that they can say, this is off our daddy. So I was hoping to try and raise them some money to set them all up with a future fund each, so that when they are bigger they can maybe have a little head start in life.
“Danny really was a family man. He loved his kids more than the world. He will always be watching over them now as an angel in heaven.
“I’d like to thank everyone for their kind words these last two days.”
Any witnesses or anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting reference number V190821.
