West Lancs apprentices recognised at awards ceremony
THE top apprentices in West Lancashire have been recognised at an awards ceremony.
Members of the private, public and community sectors attended the Let’s Talk Apprenticeship Awards and business growth breakfast at West Tower, Aughton organised by West Lancs Council.
Guest speaker, Joycelyn Neve, founder of the Seafood Pub Company, talked about the importance of apprentices to the company before the awards were introduced and presented by Councillor Frank McKenna, the council’s economic development champion.
The Advanced Apprentice of the Year Award was won by Rhys Aspinall from SCA Hygiene Products Ltd, with Roisin Sweeney from Face for Business and Nicola Glover from Mellors Catering Services Ltd. highly commended.
Jack Baybutt from The Cashroom Ltd. won Intermediate Apprentice of the Year Award, while Portia Taylor-Black from West Lancs Council, Corey Leith from Timber Packaging Solutions Ltd. and Kirsty Shire from Portico Nursery Group were all highly commended.
SCA hygiene Products Ltd. won the Large Employer of the Year Award, while Face for Business won SME Employer of the Year Award. The Cashroom Ltd., Timber Packaging Solutions Ltd. and Trak Rap Ltd. were all highly commended.
Councillor McKenna said: “Congratulations to all the companies and apprentices who won awards. I’m pleased to say that this year saw a record amount of applications and standards were extremely high and I hope that this will be repeated in future years.”
Sara Parker, marketing manager at Face for Business, added: “We are beyond thrilled with our awards. We’re strong advocates of apprenticeship schemes and this proves if you match the right person with the right employer, you will reap the benefits.”
