Trust granted a £1.3million boost to help them through the winter
THE Government has announced that an additional £1.3million grant will be given to help Southport and Ormskirk NHS Hospital Trust to cope with winter pressures.
The extra funding is part of an immediate £337million boost for NHS hospitals this winter in the recent Budget, in addition to an extra £2.8billion investment over the next two years.
The amount granted to the trust is the equivalent of almost 31 annual nurses' salaries.
Meanwhile, a new interim chief executive has been appointed at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust.
Ann Farrar (pictured) will bridge the gap between Karen Jackson stepping down from the role today (Wednesday, January 17) and Silas Nicolls' permanent appointment to the role in April. Ms Farrar previously held the role of interim chief executive of North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust from 2012 until early 2016.
