Singers needed for gospel choir
by Natasha Young

BUDDING singers across Melling are being asked to become part of a new community choir.

The Melling Community Gospel Choir is the latest project launched by the Melling Baptist Community Project (MBCP), in partnership with the North Western Baptist Association (NWBA).

A singing teacher has been recruited for the group, and will be on hand to coach participants each week.

Rehearsals will begin on October 17 from 7.30-9pm at the MRCA (Ratepayers) on Waddicar Lane, Melling.

Jo Hassoun of MBCP said: “We are very excited about this latest addition to our programme.

”Most of our work to date has focused around children, but inspired by the recent television series The Choir with Gareth Malone and others, we felt a community choir in Melling would be a great way for adults to make new friends and have some fun.

“We can certainly promise lots of laughs along the way.”

MBCP is a group of local volunteers who have been working on community projects in Melling for four years, including a toddler group called POPS held each Thursday in the Scout Hut, Waddicar Lane, from 1.30-3pm.

The group's future plans also include a weekly fit club and coffee mornings.

For more information contact Jo Hassoun on 07963 706183 or email mellingbaptistplant@o2.co.uk. The group also has a website at www.melling.baptistnw.org.uk.
