TV presenter takes over pub
by Natasha Young

A RECORD holding golfer and TV presenter has taken over Tarleton's Lord Lilford pub, and hopes to make it “an important feature of the local community”.

Glenn Turner, who has hosted a series of popular golf shows on Sky TV, and his wife Rachael are preparing for a grand re-opening of the pub next month, once a major refurbishment has been completed.

The Marks Square based watering hole, which wad a chequered history as the Lord Lilford, will be go by the new name The Village Inn and is set to have a new image to match.

Glenn, who is well known for his after dinner speaking and TV and radio work, said: “We are aiming to provide a friendly pub for the area with quality food and real ales. The emphasis will be on a great atmosphere, excellent dining facilities and a welcoming bar. This won't be a pub where the pool table or big screen football takes over - it will be somewhere where people can come and relax, enjoy good food and a peaceful drink.

”My wife Rachael and I have really fallen in love with the village and we look forward to our new pub becoming an important feature of the local community.“

The new landlord holds the Guiness World Record for the highest number of golf courses played in a year, after he played 383 courses in 12 months to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
