Classic car show set to be 'biggest ever'
by David Simister

THE organisers of a classic car spectacular are hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for charity when their show takes place in Lydiate next month.

Residents from across Sefton and West Lancashire are being invited to check out a mouthwatering selection of motorbikes and cars from decades gone by when the Lydiate Classic Car Show is held at Lydiate Parish Hall on July 8, with all funds raised going towards Cancer Research UK.

Lesley Blundell, one of the show's organisers, said this week: “Over the last few years we have been very lucky and this year we want the show to be bigger and better, that way more money raised for a great cause.

”Look out for the banners and posters going up around the area, and remember as long as your car, bike, bus, truck, mobility scooter is loved it is welcome. Our final plea also goes out for any one who has any auto jumble - bring it with you, it's the perfect opportunity to clear that garage or shed.“

The show attracts motoring enthusiasts from across Sefton and West Lancashire, with last year's event helping to raise more than £1,600 for the cancer charity. Admission to the show costs £1, with parking available at the Scotch Piper Inn, situated across the road from Lydiate Parish Hall.

Along with the opportunity to check out cars and motorcycles from years gone by, visitors to the show are also being offered an autojumble, refreshment stalls, and charity stalls in the grounds of the parish hall.

For more information or to enter your classic car or bike send an email to classiccar@cheerful.com or call 07961 894 465. Anyone interested in finding out more about the event or entering their machine can also find the organisers' page on Facebook.
