Breathtaking BMX stunts at town and country fair
by David Simister

THIS is just one of the breathtaking stunts visitors to a Southport show will be able to see when they check out a balletic team of BMX riders this Bank Holiday weekend.

The organisers of the Southport Town and Country Fair, being held at Stanley Sports College in Marshside this weekend (August 25-27) said they will be welcoming the 3Sixty bike stunt display team to the show, who will be treating visitors to a series of spectacular tricks during their daring displays.

Ian Drummond, the team's founder, said: “Obviously Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France and then performance of the whole GB cycling team – winning eight Gold, two Silver and two Bronze in the Velodrome and on the road - has given the sport of huge shot in the arm, and we expect to see this pull-through with a corresponding increase in the number of people, and ages, taking up all forms of the sport.

”We showcase the sport of bike trials which involves riding over obstacles without any outside aids, no ramps, no suspension, our feet aren't stuck to the pedals or anything like that, its all about balance and control.“

The breathtaking bike stunts will be one of just a host of attractions at the outdoor event, with visitors also being treated to animal displays, snail racing, air rifle shooting, American car displays and live music among the draws at this weekend's show.

The show takes place between 10am and 5.30pm this Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holiday Monday at Stanley Sports College, on Fleetwood Road. Tickets cost £5 for adults (£4.50 if booked in advance via the Ticket Hotline on 01704 212734),£4.50 for OAPS, while children over the age of three years, get in for free on Saturday and up to 12pm on Sunday, or just £1 from 12pm on Sunday and Monday.

For more information, visit the show website at www.garden-festivals.com or give the organisers a call on 01704 212734.
