Spate of thefts from parked cars
by David Simister

WEST Lancashire motorists are being urged to watch out after a number of thefts from cars were reported to the police.

Lancashire Constabulary said it was investigating a number of thefts in Ormskirk and Aughton, and urged members of the public to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious.

The first incident took place between 5.30pm last Monday (November 3) and 9am the following morning at Noel Gate in Aughton, when the interior of a Vauxhall Insignia parked on a driveway was searched. A black bag was stolen from the car but it was later found discarded in a neighbour's garden.

Thieves also targeted a Vauxhall Astra which was parked on a driveway on Swan Delph Lane, when thieves searched the car between 7.30pm the same night and 8.30pm the following morning. The offenders took a bag containing clothing, Boots Number 7 make up and a Selfridge voucher among items, stealing a total of £545 worth of goods.

Another home in Aughton was targeted that same night, when a Renault Megane parked on a driveway at Moss Delph Lane was also searched. The thief took a blue Makita battery drill, with orange batteries and a blue plastic carry case, worth a total of £120, when they searched the car's interior at some point between 11.30pm on December 3 and 7am the following morning.

Finally, a VW Touran parked on the pavement outside a home on Victoria Road also had its interior searched, between 11pm and 4am the following morning, when a satnav system worth £100 and loose change was taken from the car.

If you have any information about these incidents contact Lancashire Constabulary on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
