Residents club together to help charities
by Tom Martin

ELDERLY residents from a Waterloo sheltered accommodation have clubbed together and donated gifts to charity. The group from Seaside Close, on Oxford Road, decided to make a shoe box donation which was sent to underprivileged families living in Romania, Bulgaria and Belarus. They also gathered unwanted teddy bears and sent these to a charity called Children in Distress, as well as sending blankets to Sefton Women's and Children's Aid. It was an idea by one of the residents, Dot Smith, and she was delighted with the “overwhelming” support she received.
