Youngsters help vulnerable with food parcel pledge
by Tom Martin

BOOTLE youngsters have been busy making their own food parcels which have now been given to vulnerable families living in the town.

Hillside High School wanted each of its 36 classes to donate one food box with them going to the nearby foodbank which is located in the Christ Church Youth and Community Centre (CCYCC).

But the children worked hard and managed to put together 73 boxes with the food certainly coming in handy for the local foodbank over the festive period.

A spokesperson for the school said: “This is a reminder of how caring and compassionate our pupils and their families. We have been able to make the Christmas of 73 families much less stressful over the festive season.”

Rev Josie Williams, who accepted the donation on behalf of CCYCC said: “This is a wonderful and caring gesture from the students of Hillside. The gift of the meal hampers will help and support families and individuals who may not otherwise be able to have a hot meal.

”Once again our grateful thanks to the students at Hillside High from all at Christ Church Youth and Community Centre foodbank“.

Amanda Ryan, Principal at Hillside added: ”Yet again our students have done themselves and our community proud. They never waiver from caring for others.“
