Laughs galore as town's comedy club returns
by Henry James

THE Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club is returning to The Atkinson, Southport on Saturday, March 5 at 8pm.

First on the bill will be Andy Askins. Askins  has spent the past 15 years travelling the world as a professional musician, and now performs regularly at The Comedy Store in both London and Manchester as well as at Jongleurs venues nationwide. He was also recently invited to join Dave Spikey (Peter Kay's ‘Phoenix Nights') as a special guest during his nationwide tour.

On the TV screens, he has performed on the most recent series of The Comedy Store for Comedy Central, and two series of The World Stands Up, also for Comedy Central.

Also appearing will be Mark Simmons. Simmons delivers an inventive stream of accessible one-liners and with strong, quirky quips and slow-burners, his understated style is likeable and full of laugh out loud gags.

He has been described as like a gentle version of Jimmy Carr. His crafted jokes punctuated by absurdly self aware set pieces. This top notch comic will have you trying out all your different laughs from the raucous chuckle to the giggle of recognition.

Steve Bugeja will also be appearing. He is somewhat of a BBC favourite after being crowned the BBC Radio New Comedy Award winner in 2013 and being selected for Radio 4’s ‘Fresh From The Fringe.

He also won the BBC’s Funny on Three sitcom competition In 2012 and the BBC’s Jesting About 2 sketch competition.

It doesn't stop there as he's written jokes for Radio 4’s The Show What You Wrote, Newsjack and for BB2's Mock The Week and Russell Howard’s Good News as well as Channel 4's 8 out of 10 Cats.

It’s easy to see why he's already a TV stalwart as he has that engagingly gentle touch and a unique instinct for the funnies.

The compere and MC for the evening is Southport's very own, Damion Larkin.
