  • Free specialist clean-up for park memorial

    Henry James

GRANVILLE Park war memorial in Aughton has been given a free clean-up in preparation for Remembrance Sunday.

The work was undertaken by Specialist UK Restorations on behalf of Aughton Parish Council.

The First World War memorial, with Second World War additions, in the Garden of Remembrance at Granville Park is a Grade II listed structure.

It was unveiled on February 11 1922 by the 17th Earl of Derby; rededicated on October 16 1948; and restored and rededicated in 2001.

A spokesperson for Specialist UK Restorations said: “As both of our directors live in Aughton and as it is for a good cause we offered to carry out these works free of charge. The company wanted to give something back to the local community.”
