  • NHS commissioning group to host discussion on ‘low priority prescribing’

    Henry James

THE NHS West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is hosting an event to discuss its ‘low priority prescribing’ proposals and is inviting all interested members of the local community to attend.

In line with many other NHS organisations, both in Lancashire and nationally, the West Lancs CCG proposes to stop the funding of certain types of medicines or treatments that are readily available ‘over the counter’ in pharmacies or on the shelves in shops and supermarkets.

But before these changes are made, the CCG has been gathering the views of residents to help ensure that the proposals are sound and the new prescribing policies are appropriate; and also to seek out any other information or interventions that may need to be put in place.

The discussion event will be held on Thursday, March 16 from 10am to noon at the JMO Sports Park, Blaguegate Playing Fields, Liverpool Road, Skelmersdale.

Residents can also share their views by completing an online survey: www.po.st/LowGluten. The survey will close on Friday, March 24 and a feedback report will be published in April.

    INTEREST

A spokesperson for NHS West Lancashire CCG, said: “There has already been a significant interest in the online survey, but these public consultation events will allow anyone with queries to speak directly with the CCG.”

To learn more about the proposals, including precisely which medicines and treatments are being considered and which members of society would be exempt from these proposals, residents are encouraged to visit the CCG’s website, www.westlancashireccg.nhs.uk

For any queries about the events, contact the CCG by email at myview@westlancashireccg.nhs.uk, by ringing 01695 588 203 or in writing at NHS West Lancashire CCG, Hilldale, Wigan Road, Ormskirk, L39 2JW.
