Miss Southport’s chosen charities!
MISS Southport has revealed the four charities that she will be working hard to raise funds for during her year in the role.
Politics Master's degree student Jennifer Amy Leigh, who was crowned last month, is also set to travel to Kelham Hall in Nottinghamshire to battle it out against 69 contestants from across the country at the Miss England semi-final on July 3. The 24-year-old said that taking part in the competitions has re-ignited her passion for fundraising” and she has now chosen three charities close to her heart.
She has chosen the Trussell Trust’s Southport Foodbank, which supports struggling families every week; national charity, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, and the British Dyslexia Association. She will also raise funds for the Miss World Charity ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ which helps disadvantaged children around the world.
The keen runner, who will compete in the next London Marathon, wants to use her talents to help others.
She said: “I was so pleased to win the title of Miss Southport - the very first year that I entered and I am very keen to get started on raising as much money as possible.
“The most obvious way for me to do this is to run, of course! I will be taking on as many fundraising challenges as possible as well as running to raise as much as I can for these very worthwhile charities.”
