  • Up Holland pupils score their own World Cup triumph

    Henry James

SPORTY pupils from St Thomas the Martyr CE Primary School in Up Holland were really on the ball when they competed in a football tournament for Key Stage 1 children to celebrate the World Cup.

A total of 21 schools from across West Lancashire took part, divided into three groups, and the team from the school in Highgate Road topped their American Nations group after finishing the day undefeated.

The tournament was run by SHARES and the West Lancashire Sports Partnership and the Mayor of West Lancashire, Councillor Noel Delaney, present the awards at the JMO in Skelmersdale.

Headteacher at St Thomas the Martyr, Mr Roscoe, said: “All of the teams played in the right spirit with respect and enthusiasm. I am proud of our team’s achievement and was impressed with the great sportsmanship of all involved.”
