  • Volunteer group creates special packs for the homeless

    Danielle Thompson

KIND-HEARTED volunteers have been starting the year as they wish to go on – by helping the homeless by putting together special supplies packs.

The Kindhearts Cafe at St. Nicholas Church on Bridge Road in Blundellsands is non-profit making and run by volunteers. For their latest project, Socks in a Sack, they created packs containing socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, nail brushes and feminine items for the women's packs.

Rosemary Hart from the group said: “The people who were given the packs were delighted, especially with the socks. Most of the items for the packs were donated and where there was a shortfall, we purchased items from the donations we receive at the café each week from people who come on Thursdays for tea, coffee, home-made soup and cakes. For more information, call into the café.”
