Don’t miss the vote!
OFFICIALS at West Lancs Council are once again urging residents in the borough to make sure they don’t lose the right to vote by checking their details are correct on the 2019 Register of Electors.
The revised version of the register is available for inspection, under supervision, during normal office hours at the council offices at 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk (Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 9am to 4.45pm).
A copy of the full register can also be viewed under supervised inspection at Ormskirk Library in Burscough Street.
People can also check their details by calling 01695 585014.
Council elections are scheduled to take place in 18 of the borough’s 25 wards on Thursday, May 2. People who are not on the Register of Electors will not be able to vote in these elections or any other elections that may be held throughout the year.
And the authority has warned that not being on the register could also affect your credit score.
West Lancs Electoral Registration Officer, Kim Webber, said: “You need to be on the electoral roll to have your say in the upcoming borough council elections, and incorrect details may result in residents not being able to vote – so it really is worth taking the time to check.”
For more information about the Register of Electors; requesting a postal or proxy vote application; or changing your details on the register if they are incorrect, contact Electoral Services on 01695 585014 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
