Veterans group play their part at Hotter Shoes Fun Day event
MEMBERS of Skelmersdale Veterans’ Association hosted a stand at the Hotter Shoes Fun Day event staged at Skelmersdale Football Club.
Visitors were able to engage with the veterans and admire and even try on some items from their display of military memorabilia which included medals, uniforms, cap badges, tin helmets, flat jackets, a rucksack and a gas mask!
Among other attractions on the day were a bouncy castle, It’s A Knock Out competitions for staff and family members and face painting for the children.
Hotter Shoes, which has a factory in the town, has sponsored the Skelmersdale Veterans’ Association’s colours at displays throughout the North West. They have also been seen at local schools and care homes across West Lancashire.
Veterans official, Alan Lewis said: “With Remembrance Day just around the corner, the association are happy to visit local primary schools across the town. Any schools interested in having a visit from us can give me a ring on 07939660048 and book the association in for a morning or afternoon visit.”
And he added: “We were pleased to get involved in the Hotter event and would like to thank Hotter chief executive, Sara Prowse and Lisa Macdonald from the company for supporting the association and sponsoring our colours, which are shown every time we go to events. Thanks also to veterans who helped on the day.”
