'Slotathon' hopes to coin it in...
by Natasha Young

SOUTHPORT'S Penny Arcade Museum will play host to a sponsored slot machine marathon this weekend, as the town helps celebrate British Tourism Week (March 12-20).

The March 13 event, being dubbed the ‘slotathon', will help raise funds for Freshfields Animal Rescue.

Cuddly residents - past and present - from the rescue centre will be in the Pier Pavilion to show their support for Freshfields volunteers and tourism staff taking part in the slot machine challenge.

Animal lovers and families are welcome along to join in the fun.

Councillor Mike Booth, Sefton's cabinet member for leisure and tourism, said: “For a fun family day out and to show your support for a fantastic local charity, why not pop along?

”As well as the traditional antique arcade machines in the Pier Pavilion, there's also a licensed café and small exhibition on Southport history.

“Add to this all the fun of the Freshfields gang being there and it's sure to be great way to spend a Sunday - all in the name of a good cause.”

The event, in the Pier Pavilion, runs from 10am-4pm.
