Road closed after crash
by David Simister

TWO motorists suffered minor injuries after being involved in a crash on a West Lancashire road earlier this week.

Lancashire Constabulary said it attended a two-car collision, involving a Peugeot 206 and a Ford Kuga, on the A581 road between Rufford and Croston and 9.19pm on Monday night (March 7).

The crash, which happened adjacent to the Hanging Bridge Barn on Meadow Lane, is not understood to have seriously injured the drivers but did damage both vehicles beyond being fit to drive, and were both recovered after the collision.

Officers from Lancashire Constabulary closed the road at both the Rufford and Croston ends, but reopened the route at around midnight on Tuesday (March 8).

Last November The Champion reported that the same road, which provides a link for motorists between West Lancashire and Chorley, had been named as one of Britain's most dangerous by the The Road Safety Markings Association due to the condition of the road markings, which it said helped to contribute to accidents.
