Garden centre creates 15 jobs
by anon

A GARDEN centre in Tarleton has created 15 new jobs to respond to what it predicts will be a surge in business later this spring, it has confirmed this week.

Dunscar Garden Centre, on Southport New Road, said it has created the positions to deal with an anticipated increase in demand over the next months, and said on Monday (March 14) it has already taken on new staff members for 10 of the positions.

It comes as the centre has just opened a £400,000 second phase of an extension to its site whiich it says will help to meet demand for both its gardening and catering facilities.

“We are really pleased to have been able to open 6 weeks ahead of schedule and before our peak sales period in Spring. While we’ve still got a few areas we need to work on before we consider the development complete, the fact that we are able to open the new facilities in time for the Spring is a great bonus for us and our customers.

”The new expansion really improves our presence from the road, so we’re hoping for a boost in passing trade from people previously unaware of just what we have got here.

“Our expansion is also really helping us live up to our aim of investing in the local community and we are very pleased to have welcomed 10 new members of staff already into the fold, all of whom live within the immediate local area. We have a further two positions we are looking to fill immediately and anticipate we may need up to three more on top of that.”

Anyone who is interested in the new positions should visit the store or go to to the company's website at for more information.
