Campaigners stage second protest against store giant
by Natasha Young

MORE than 100 people attended a second protest in Ainsdale on Saturday (March 12), to stop Tesco moving into the village.

Local councillors, traders and residents have been leading the campiagn amid fears the supermarket giant is interested in replacing four small businesses and one vacant retail space with one of its stores.

Councillor Brenda Porter, one of the oragnisers of the rally, told The Champion people in the area had been “overwhelmingly” saying they would be against a new Tesco branch.

She said campaigners will now be looking to organise a further public meeting to update people on the matter.
