Pupils get artistic with shoppers
by David Simister

TALENTED students at a Skelmersdale school teamed up with a Southport-based artist to paint portraits of the town's shoppers at an event yesterday.

Youngsters from Hillside Primary School, based on Egerton, joined forces with Birkdale artist Ruth Ainsworth to host the People and Places event at the Concourse Shopping Centre, where residents were invited to have their portraits drawn by the pupils.

A spokesperson for the school told The Champion:

“This is part of their ‘People and Places’ project and they have been working at building drawing and research skills with resident artist Ruth Ainsworth.

The children have worked very hard on the project and the portraits they have made of Mrs Brimage who works at the school are really like her.”
