Tragedy on bypass
by Natasha Young

A 52-YEAR-old Southport man died on Sunday (June 5), after being hit by a car on the Tarleton bypass.

Paul Bratin was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which also involved a Vauxhall Astra travelling towards Preston.

Following the crash, which happened at around 4.40pm, Lancashire Constabulary's specialist accident investigators closed the road for two and a half hours.

Senior investigating officer, Sergeant Malcolm Bell from the Road Policing Unit, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward and contact police.

”We need to establish exactly what happened so if anyone witnessed the incident then it is important that they get in touch.“

Anyone with information is asked to call Lancashire police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
