Book in for a brew at 'library'
by Guest

A NEW library initiative has been launched at Churchtown Tea Rooms, to help boost funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Visitors can now sift through a selection of books to read over a cuppa in the café or take away in return for a donation to the charity.

Bookworms can also donate their old copies of books for all ages to the café to help keep the ‘library' stocked up.

Jan Morton, owner of the Botanic Road business, said: “This is an idea that I think will take off. There are books for all ages, including children's books, and people who come in by themselves can sit and read books.

”We're also looking to introduce summer reading events.“

It's not the first time Churchtown Tea Rooms has show its support for Macmillan. The Champion previously reported that Pam Leckie, who works at the café, and fellow fundraiser Denise O'Grady put together a cake recipe book called ‘Time 4 Cake' to be sold at the tea rooms, with all proceeds going to the charity.

According to Jan, more copies of the book have been printed and are now on sale at Churchtown Tea Rooms.
