Pensioners injured after being hit by car

TWO elderly pedestrians were in need of hospital treatment after being hit by a car in Old Roan.

Merseyside Police has launched a witness appeal after a man in his 80s and a woman in her 70s were involved in a serious collision on Wednesday, February 29.

The incident, which occured as they crossed at the junction of Molyneux Way and Altway at around 3.25pm, also involved a Freelander Landrover vehicle.

The man suffered a broken ankle and facial injuries and was taken to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition. The woman suffered cuts and bruises and was taken to hospital for treatment before later being released.

the driver of the car stopped at the scene and is now helping police with their enquiries.
