Company adds final touches to 'ambitious' youth musical
by Guest

THE Waterloo and Crosby Theatre Company (WCTC) are putting the final touches to their spectacular youth musical ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', which will be performed at Blundellsands United Reformed Church next month.

The April 13-15 show, featuring 35 of the company's youth members aged betwene six and 14, is based on C. S. Lewis's classic story and has been adapted by Irita Kutchmy as a youth production.

Sticking to the traditional story and characters, the show also has additional catchy, contemporary music.

A realistic narnia set has been put together by the company in collaboration with Crosby's own ‘In Another Place' group, who were responsible for the Narnia Experience at Old Christ Church and St George's Hall in recent years.

It is being directed and choreographed by WCTC regulars Leo and Alex Appleton, who have been working with the children and youngsters within the company over the last few years in their pantomimes and youth shows. On this occassion they are joined by musical director Charles Moss, who has also worked with the company on several previous musical and concert performances.

Leo said: “I am really pleased with this production of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It was a bit ambitious for us at the outset, as we knew that the children would not be familiar with the muscial numbers, but they have motivated themselves very well and their singing and acting performances are excellent. We have some real talent within the company and I love seeing our youngsters apply themselves and develop as performers.

”Anyone who comes to see the show is in for a treat, and I hope people will come along to support this family show, whcih will be a great way to end the Easter holidays.“

Tickets, priced £9 and concessions £7 (under 18s, students and OAPs) and are available on 0151 924 0231.
