Cream teas boost fund
by David Simister

RUFFORD residents have raised hundreds of pounds at a summer event organised to help raise funds for the village church.

Organisers of the event, held last Saturday (June 23), said that more that more £600 was raised to help pay for the yard at St Mary the Virgin Church, after visitors were treated to a host of events, including a raffle and a tombola, at the church hall.

Alex Garden, one of the event's organisers, said: “Delicious teas of strawberries, scones and cream were enjoyed by many at Rufford Church Hall last Saturday. The weather was kind - not a drop of rain fell all afternoon/

”There were many entries for the children's drawing competition and stalls included plants, tombola, raffle and vegetables.“

Pictured are members of the Whittingham family, from Rufford, trying their luck on the tombola at the church hall.
