Car show best yet

VISITORS to a classic car and bike show in Lydiate have managed to raise over £2,000 for charity, the show's organisers have confirmed this week.

Last week The Champion reported that the organisers of the Lydiate Classic Car Show, held at Lydiate Parish Hall on Sunday, July 8, had been the event's most successful year yet, but now the organisers have confirmed that thanks to a bumper response from visitors and good luck with the weather that more than £2,000 had been raised for Cancer Research UK.

More than 1,100 people visited the show, with a total 210 vehicles taking part on the day. The date for next year's show has been provisionally set for July 7, 2013. For more information and pictures from the show visit the Champion's motoring blog at
