Heartbreak for victims
by David Simister

POLICE officers in West Lancashire are appealing for more information about a series of burglaries which took place in the northern parishes last week.

Lancashire Constabulary said it was investigating a number of break-ins in both Tarleton and Hesketh Bank, following on from an earlier raid in Banks which left one elderly homeowner heartbroken after £1,500 worth of jewellery was stolen from her.

In one incident, which took place at some point between Friday, July 20 and Sunday, July 20, saw raiders force open the front door of a farmhouse on Blackgate Lane in Tarleton before managing to steal a haul of jewellery, and Stella McCartney and Diesel-branded fragrances, worth in all around £800.

Officers are also investigating after burglars smashed in a kitchen window at a house on Boundary Meanygate in Hesketh Bank, which allowed them to get into the house through the back door. In this raid, which took place between 8.15am and 11.05am on Saturday, July 21, the intruders managed to take a Dell laptop with a pink lid, a jewellery box, a necklace, a bank card, a notebook containing security passwords, allowing the bank card to used to obtain cash from a cashpoint in Churchtown.

If you have any information about either of these incidents, contact Lancashire Constabulary on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
