Waterloo and Crosby group to stage vintage farce
by Ron Ellis

THE first week in September sees the Waterloo and Crosby Theatre Company returning to The Civic in Crosby with its summer production, the vintage farce ‘Not Now Darling', by the masters of the genre Ray Cooney and John Chapman.

Set in an exclusive West End fur salon in the late 1960’s the play explores the hilarious consequences of senior partner, Gilbert Bodley’s, attempted infidelity whilst his wife, Maude, is away on holiday. It all begins with a very expensive mink coat but things do not go exactly according to plan when Gilbert is forced to enlist the aid of his less than willing junior partner, Arnold Crouch, in the enterprise.

The play features experienced local actors Tony O’Keefe as lothario Gilbert Bodley with Alison Jones as his wife Maude and sees Les. Longley, in his first major starring role, as the hapless Arnold Crouch. Other members of this large and talented cast include Company stalwarts and veteran comic performers Claudia Molyneux, as the sexy Janie McMichael, and Roy Hartley in the wonderful cameo role of Commander Frencham.

So if you fancy a light-hearted trip back to the late 1960’s the production runs from September 5-8 at The Civic, Crosby at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced from £8 – £10 and are available online from, by ringing the box office on 0151 928 1919.

The box office is open from 10am-2pm Monday-Wednesday and on Friday, and from 10am-1pm on a Saturday.
