Facebook pair con victim to raid his house
by David Simister

THOUSANDS of pounds worth of jewellery was stolen from a home in Bickerstaffe after the burglars befriended the victim's son on Facebook.

Police said the two men, aged 18 and 19 years old from Liverpool, were later arrested after the burglary on Mercers Lane last Thursday night.

Officers said that while one of the offenders kept the son distracted, the other went upstairs and took jewellery.

Among the items taken were a diamond bangle worth £2,500, diamond cross (£600), a sapphire and gold ring with diamonds (£700), a ladies Armani watch studded with diamonds £275), an 18ct white, gold and diamong earrings (£900), a wedding ring worth (£1,500) and a gold bracelet with a green jade heart, worth £200.

Lancashire Constabulary said the two offenders are currently on police bail until Friday (September 28).
