GUIDES, brownies and rainbows from across the borough gathered in Aughton last weekend as part of a global celebration of culture and diversity.

Members of guiding groups from across West Lancashire met at St Michael's Church Hall last Sunday (February 3) to take part in World Thinking Day, a global guiding event which marks the diversity among the movement's membership in no less than 145 countries.

Julie Bentley, Girlguiding UK’s Chief Executive, said: “World Thinking Day is a really important occasion for guiding.

”It is a chance for us to acknowledge that we are part of a huge movement that works to give millions of girls, young women and adults opportunities to try new things, gain new skills and most importantly make friends and have fun.“

The girls and young women took part in a variety of activities including making a Christingle, decorating tea light jars and making peace doves before renewing promises at the end of the afternoon.
