Bookworms help hospice
by Natasha Young

CHURCHTOWN bookworms have helped a local shop to raise cash for Queenscourt Hospice.

Carol Taylor, who runs Churchtown Village Supplies on Botanic Road, invited customers to trade in their old books for one they haven't read in return for a 50p donation to the charity and, having also held previously held a festive raffle, has raised around £120.

Having already achieved fundraising success through the book exchange, which has been running for several months, Carol said customers will be able to continue swapping their used books via the store's old fashioned book case as she continues to collect funds for Queenscourt.

Carol told the Champion: “I used to be involved in St Cuthbert's Church and they did the Rose Queen to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice. There are also a lot of customers who come in and think it's a really good cause.

”We'd like to thank all our customers who have helped to raise the money. We're really grateful.“
