Village family farm's crisps get MP's vote
by David Simister

A RUFFORD family who make crisps from potatoes grown on the farm they run have treated their local MP to a tour of the site.

Lorraine Fullbrook, who represents the South Ribble consituency, was given a tour of Fiddlers Farm, following praise of the distinctive, Lancashire-themed crisps from her colleagues in Westminster.

Mrs Fullbrook said after her tour: “Fiddler’s Lancashire Crisps are a great asset to our local area. What makes this business and their crisps so special is not just the great taste but that from the potato harvesting to the production of each bag of crisps, all is done by the Fiddler family on their farm in Rufford.

”In this age of mass produced products that can travel thousands of miles before it reaches the consumer, it is wonderful to see a Lancashire based business selling a great Lancashire grown product. Fiddler’s pride themselves on only using the potatoes grown on their farm and I got to try the crisps which are enhanced with traditional flavours such as Lancashire cheese, Elsey’s Malt Vinegar and Lancashire Sauce. They are simply delicious!

“It was great to visit Fiddler’s farm and learn about this exciting local business. We may be famous for the hotpot here in Lancashire, but in my view the potato is at its finest here in Rufford, in Fiddler’s Lancashire Crisps!”

The tour follows the Conservative MP treating her colleagues in the Commons to the West Lancashire firm's crisps, as part of efforts in Parliament to mark Lancashire Day.

Fiddlers Farm, which has been run by the Fiddler family since the 1950s, produce a range of crisps from potatoes grown at their farm, including a Lancashire Sauce flavour. For more information visit or call 01704 823 572.
