Pupils ditch uniforms and wear costumes for World Book Day
by David Simister

LITTLE learners at one Lydiate school have turned up to class dressed as some of their favourite fictional characters to mark World Book Day.

Pupils at St. Gregory's Catholic Primary School ditched their usual uniforms last Friday (March 7) and donned costumes inspired by some of their favourite books instead, tying in with efforts to celebrate World Book Day at schools across the country.

Deborah Albon, Headteacher at the school said: “We encourage all the pupils at St. Gregory's to have a life-long love of books as reading is the key to their future success.

”The children and staff have all enjoyed the novelty of coming to school in their pyjamas and they have read so many books in one day!“
