Singer reaches regional finals of talent contest
by David Simister

A TALENTED musician from Tarleton is getting ready to impress after landing a place in the regional finals of a search for Britain's top teenage talent.

Richard Bradshaw, a singer songwriter from Holmeswood, has landed himself a spot in the regional round of the TeenStar talent competition, which is being held at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester on April 7.

Kate Bradley, one of the 17-year-old's colleagues at Tarleton-based KTB Music, said this week: “Richard is known as the John lennon guy at KTB Music. Everyone remembers him after hearing him even just once, his husky raw talent never ceases to amaze. You can't really say Richard is keen, or even enthusiastic the music lives in him, and he lives in the music.

”It's great to see such a modest natural gift in the form of a very nice chap.“

Richard has attended auditions at the Palace Hotel in Manchester and has got through to the regional finals after impressing judges with one of his own songs. Richard has been performing for over three years starting out as the lead vocalist in numerous bands. He plays the guitar and piano as well as writing his own music.

TeenStar is aimed specifically at teenage musicians and covers a variety of genres, meaning Richard will be up against singers, duos, vocal groups and rappers among others in his bid to impress the judges.

A contest spokesperson said: ”TeenStar offers entrants not only the chance to win prizes, but the opportunity to perform live to capacity audiences at some of the best venues in the country – including within The O2 in London!

“Huge crowds, record industry A & R and celebrity judges will be there to cast their eye over the talent along the way. ”
