Flash mob lights up Chapel Street
by Ollie Cowan

SOUTHPORT Young Men's Christian Association held a “profile raising” flash mob in the town centre last week with over 79 dancers taking part.

The YMCA team, based on Hogton street, spent Saturday afternoon (June 15) entertaining crowds on Chapel Street with a number of different dances and performances.

Ages of dances ranged from four years old to forty three.

Katy Hibbert, Youth Co-Ordinator, said: “It was a fantastic afternoon, great weather, brilliant audiences and enthusiastic performances from all that took part!.

”We are delighted at all of our participants for putting on such a good show and doing themselves their parents and Southport YMCA proud.“

Blast and Kaos street dancers joined up with the MoonKatz, SunKatz and StarKatz cheerleading groups, combining an eclectic mix of hip hop and street cheer routines.

A Combition of hardcore, mad abs and stretch and revive classes were also displayed on the day.

Katy continued: ”The reasoning behind the event was mainly to allow the youth in particular a different performance space than they are used to.

“We also brought some free entertainment to the town and boost Southport's profile and I feel we have shown that we are more than a skating venue!”

You do not need to pay up front term fees with our groups and all performance groups are priced at £3 per session. Please call 01704 538317 for further information.
