Church garden to be transformed
by Tom Martin

A SEAFORTH church will see its garden area transformed as part of a £1,000 grant.

Caradoc Mission Community Church will get the cash in order to carry out much-needed work to improve the outdoor patch.

The money will be used to restore worn out garden tables, benches, as well as install new raised planters and flower beds which will be filled with shrubbery.

Members of the church applied to the Neighbourhood Fund, run by Beech Housing Association, for the cash boost.

A representative from the church, Chris Ainscough, said: “We really appreciate the funding Beech Housing Association (BHA) has awarded us. We had already started to make small improvements to the garden but this funding will help us to make further enhancements for the benefit of the community.”

Caradoc Mission Commission Church has been an established in Seaforth for the past 100 years and offers a variety of services to the local community. They are a distributor for South Sefton foodbank as well as running a weekly youth club for local youngsters.

Lindsay Greenhalgh, Neighbourhood Development Officer at BHA, said: “The community garden is a well used space and the benches and tables are in need of bit of TLC. It’s good that we are able to provide the cash needed for the materials but what is even better is that volunteers from the local community have come together and are happy to give up their time to carry out the work for the good of everyone in the area.”
