Appeal for wanted man
by Tom Martin

BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) has released an image of a man they want to speak to after a can of beer was poured over a woman as she stepped off a train in Seaforth.

The ordeal took place as the 33-year-old victim, who was not named, made her way from Birkdale to Seaforth and Litherland station.

Since the incident BTP officers have launched an investigation and have managed to find a picture of a man taken by a CCTV camera.

They now want to track down the male train passenger as it is believed that he may have key information to help with the enquiry.

PC Gordon Sharp said: “As the woman got off the train she noticed a man was also in the process of getting off behind her.

”As she stepped onto the platform the man suddenly, and without warning, poured a can of beer over her head.

“Thankfully the woman wasn’t injured, but she was extremely upset and shocked.

”I think the man captured on CCTV holds information which could be crucial in this case and I appeal to anyone who recognises him to get in touch.“

The incident happened at around 10.30pm on Thursday, December 19.

If anyone has any information, please call BTP on: 0800 40 50 40 or ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. In all calls please quote log NWA/B4 of 17/2/14.
