Sefton coastal walk is first for charity
by Tom Martin

A NATIONAL charity is to stage its first ever coastal walk based in Sefton.

Epilepsy Action has organsied the event on Saturday, July 19 which will see participants start at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre with a finish line at Hightown train station.

The seven kilometer journey has been planned in the hope that it will raise much-needed funds for the 600,000 people living with epilepsy in the UK.

A shorter four kilometer route has also been put on with an end point at Hall Road train station, which is suitable for wheelchair users.

Josie Fowler, community fundraising officer at Epilepsy Action, said: “The Epilepsy Action Sefton Coast Walk will be a fantastic family event.

”Walkers can enjoy a choice of two routes along the scenic Sefton Coast Path and enjoy fantastic views of the North Wales coast, Liverpool and the Wirral peninsula. Any four-legged friends are welcome too.

“The money raised at this event will make a huge difference to the lives of people affected by epilepsy.

”Just £6 could help our experts to support someone newly diagnosed with epilepsy, providing advice and information when they need it most. We really hope people in the Sefton area will get behind this local event and help make it a great success.“

The event starts at 10am on Saturday 19 July at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre. Entry costs £8 for all entrants or £20 for a family of up to four people (two adults and two children, or one adult and three children).
