Pupils cook free meals for community
by Tom Martin

LITHERLAND High School opened its doors to the community as they invited 25 locals in for a free meal.

It is part of a ‘Business in the Community' scheme which saw pupils cook a three course meal for the guests from Ford Lane Pensioners group.

Year 11 youngsters currently studying for their catering course served up the food which included chicken ballotine, roasted vegetables and soup.

The residents were then entertained by the school choir who sang carol songs during the meal.

A spokesperson for Ford Lane Pensioners group said: “I want to thank the school for a fantastic afternoon, we had a wonderful time.

”The pupils are a real credit to the school and they were outstanding. The singing was amazing. The meal was beautiful and so well prepared. We won’t forget your kindness.“
